Shingles
Anyone who has had chickenpox can develop Shingles (herpes zoster.) After the chickenpox clears, the virus remains inactive within certain nerve cells of the body. When the virus reactivates, shingles develops.
Symptoms
Shingles can present with several symptoms:
- Pain
- Itching
- Numbness/Tingling
- Blistered skin lesions following the path of a nerve
- Symptoms can last for several weeks and occasionally for much longer.

Treatments
- Oral antiviral medication
- Pain relieving medication
- Anti-inflammatory medication
- Medication for neuropathy
