Botox

Are you tired of seeing unwanted wrinkles when looking in the mirror?

Millions of men and women across the United States use Botox treatments to diminish the look of facial wrinkles, creases, and fine lines and rejuvenate their appearance.

Botox FAQ

Even if you’ve heard about the popular FDA-approved treatment, you probably have a lot of questions. Here is some basic information that you should know about Botox before scheduling your first procedure.

Where can you get Botox?

Botox can be used to treat these areas of the face:

Upper face

  • “Elevens” / vertical worry lines between the eyes
  • Frown lines (glabellar lines)
  • Forehead lines / horizontal wrinkles on the forehead
  • Crow’s feet / wrinkles around the outer corner of the eyes (periorbital rhytides)
  • “Bunny” lines / horizontal wrinkles at the top of the nose (nasalise lines)
  • Eyebrow line drooping

Lower face

  • Gummy smile lines
  • Smoker’s lines / wrinkles around the mouth
  • Lipstick lines / lip wrinkles
  • Marionette lines / vertical “sad smile wrinkles”
  • Dumpling / apple chin / dimpled chin
  • Neck rings / horizontal neck banding (platysmal bands)

What does Botox do?

Botox temporarily relaxes the muscles in your face, leaving you with smoother skin for several months. When done by an experienced injector, results are subtle and predictable.

Botox can also be used to refine the jawline.

Does Botox hurt? What does Botox feel like?

Each Botox is injected into your skin using an extremely small needle, and patients often report that it feels like getting a pinch.

How long does it take to get Botox treatment?

A Botox procedure only takes about 10 to 15 minutes and doesn’t require anesthesia.

The best part? No real downtime! We recommend not laying down for two hours after getting Botox and avoiding exertion for the rest of the day. You should also avoid flying for 24 hours, but other than that you can get back to your normal routine straight away.

How long does it take for Botox to work?

Don’t worry—it’s normal for your skin to look the same at first. That’s because Botox doesn’t work instantly after treatment.

Timing for seeing Botox results varies from between individuals. Although you may start to notice slight changes within three to five days, most patients see maximum results kick in after 14 days have passed.

If you are using Botox to treat wrinkles that are extra deep, it may take up to a year of treatments before that area relaxes and looks smoother. Dermal fillers may be an alternative treatment if you want to plump up deep creases.

How long does Botox last?

Botox’s effects aren’t permanent. Though its effectiveness varies from patient to patient, most people get results that last between three and four months—sometimes longer.

You can protect your investment by using a good sunscreen and following a proper skincare regimen.

Does Botox make you look older when it wears off?

No! Your unwanted wrinkles and fine lines will reappear slowly, but they will not become worse. When you get the right amount of Botox continuously on a regular schedule, your muscles weaken and shrink from lack of use, potentially meaning you may need fewer treatments over time for maintenance.

What age should you get Botox?

When to start getting Botox is a personal decision, but it is approved for anyone over age 18. While many patients start preventative treatments in their mid-30s, as long as you’re healthy, it’s never too late to get a refreshed look with Botox.
