What Is A Nurse Practitioner?
Nurse practitioners are an integral part of the medical team at Dermatology, Inc. A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse (RN) who has advanced education and clinical training in a health care specialty area, with a Master's Degree in nursing.
Working in collaboration with the physicians at Dermatology, Inc., nurse practitioners help extend the medical services available to our patients. They are dedicated to patient satisfaction. Our dermatologic nurse practitioners help meet our patient's needs in many ways.
As an integral part of the health care team, our nurse practitioners:
- Are available for routine follow-up visits.
- Are available on short-term notice, making appointments more accessible.
- Provide immediate solutions to common chronic problems that require nursing expertise.
- Provide patients information they need to make informed decisions about their health care and lifestyle choices.
- Are conscientious about meeting patient needs and consult with a dermatologist on complex issues.
Nurse practitioners practice under the rules and regulations of the Nurse Practice Act of the state in which they work. Most nurse practitioners are also nationally certified in their specialty area. They are recognized as expert health care providers and practice in all 50 states. In Indiana, nurse practitioners practice in collaboration with physicians and have prescription authority.
