The Outrun the Sun Race Against Melanoma is the largest race benefiting skin cancer education and melanoma research. The event will be held the evening of June 8, 2013 at Fort Benjamin Harrison State Park. Visit Outrun the Sun Race Against Melanoma to learn more and register. Dermatology, Inc. has long supported the mission of Outrun the Sun, Inc., which is dedicated to building national awareness of melanoma and other skin cancers, educating communities about preventive measures that reduce melanoma’s incidence rate and raising funds for melanoma research, leading to effective treatments and a potential cure.
To help educate people about the significance of sun protection and early skin cancer detection, our physicians routinely participate in free skin screenings throughout the local communities. In addition to being trained to evaluate and treat diseases of the skin, hair and nails, our physicians advocate prevention and early detection in an effort to find skin cancer in the earliest treatable stage. Volunteering to staff a local skin screening is one way to stress our commitment to protection and early detection.
Dr. Keeter Sechrist serves as the president for Outrun the Sun and is often asked to speak about skin cancer, melanoma and prevention. Please visit http://www.indystar.com/article/20091026/local/910260328 to view the article.
